I loved this restaurant. I chose it for my sons 16th birthday dinner. My son is a celiac and the choices he had on the menu were great, its one of the first times he has enjoyed dining out, brilliant!! i dont know why people harp on about 'value for money' these restaurants arent about having a good feed but rather enjoying the art of food. I loved it and despite some comments below i was stuffed full afterwards! my daughters birthday is in may - hopefully be back then!

close by, yay!
I read a review by Mr.I on this restaurant, i haven't been in years. So, I ordered the melange. Three courses, a cold entree, hot second course and a shells course which was so tasty - if you love seafood! The calamari that he said was part of the first course was actually tomato cured scallops! I found his review funny after my wonderful lunch with my mother. I will definitely be using this easy access restaurant more frequently!

Impeccable
Enjoying all aspects of fine dining, I was treated to a wonderful night out to dine at Sails with a good friend. Upon entry we were greeted warmly by the staff and ushered to lovely table looking out to a glorious view over the water. My first impression of the restaurant was romantic, light and elegant and the staff were professional yet friendly, without interrupting our evening. The menu was interesting with tempting selections and the presentation and flavor of each course was outstanding and a credit to the chefs. This is the restaurant for romance, anniversaries, intimate dining and a touch of class. We will most certainly be back!

Cannot believe how long this restaurant has been around, it still seems so fresh. Had an amazing dinner with the family for my sons birthday. From being asked when I booked would I like a choclate plaque saying happy birthday on his dessert to the dessert appearing with candles And a singing waiter, very funny. Wonderful restaurant that contains so many happy memories for myself and family through the years. Just wanted to shout a Big thank you.

A big call from one who lives in melbourne's finest chef hat eateries, but I'd have to say Sails is one of ntt absolute favourite restaurants. Incredible food, very warm service and arguably the best bay views in Melbourne!

Absolutely stunning restaurant. I would keep this place for a special occasion. The meal was exquisite, especially the prawns - so fresh. Wonderful view, even in the evening. Perfect to dine at on a nice evening, don't go if it is windy - we did and it was dreadful, still Sails can't help the weather pattern. Highly recommendedwww.urbanspoon.com.au

With a breath-taking view, friendly service and mouthwatering food, I’m reluctant to tell you guys about this place. I want it to just be mine, mine, mine.
We were looking for somewhere new, on the south-side to celebrate my dad’s birthday. After being blown away by the degustation at Attica the previous year, we were looking for something special, although given that Attica was for his 60th, perhaps not quite as pricey. We had all heard whispers about Sails and decided that this was the perfect occasion to try it out.
We walked along the beach as the sunset, towards the front entrance of the restaurant. We were greeted by warm, friendly staff (all of whom had a sense of humour) and finished watching the sun set over Port Philip Bay against the front wall of the restaurant, which is made entirely of glass. It was magic.
For dinner both myself and my brother, SuckMai Radish, decided on the Melange — a $70 seafood dinner, with three courses. My dad decided on the venison and my mum had quail.
The cold entree was three oysters served natural, one in bloody mary and one in green tea and sake shots. This was followed by a crab, lemon & basil salad and a wasabi pannacotta & bug tartare with lime foam. The second course was grilled salmon in a sherry and white wine sauce, grilled marlin in a miso broth. The piece de resistance was the final round; wok fried crab, mussels, prawn & scampi with chilli, ginger, coriander & coconut. All were completely scrumptious, as were the dishes chosen by our folks, which we sampled. But we ate so much we didn’t know if we could fit in dessert…
Bwahahahaha! As if we couldn’t cram some dessert in there. Don’t be ridiculous. The desserts were sucked up off the plates I could even, um, write down what they were or take a photo (how embarrassment).
But this is a night and a meal that all of us enjoyed. While Sails isn’t necessarily on the food map like some of its bigger brothers, it deserves to be.
